Day 46.. The rescue!

Preparing for the long haul to Halifax

Here's where we woke up - off the motorway in central Novia Scotia.
Much to our surprise, we got through to Progressive Insurance on the phone, they located a mechanic, and he happened to be only about fifteen minutes away. The very efficient Darrell was with us by 0900 with his low loader truck. That was a first great stroke of luck. He got Harvey's front wheels up on board, we all crammed into the tow truck's passenger seat, and off we went for ninety miles to Halifax. The second MAJOR stroke of luck? This was a SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLAR journey for a tow truck pulling a motorhome. But because there was no closer mechanic equipped to work on Harvey, the insurers said those magic words, "you're covered". Oh Hallelujah!

So here's a picture of Richard and Darrell getting Harvey the RV good to go for the trip....

And here is our arrival at the home of fellow GMC enthusiasts Paul and Nancy Doane in the heart of Halifax. As I write, Paul is UNDER Harvey with Richard, hopefully fixing him up well and good. Tom and I are very happily settled in the breakfast room, with our porch, overlooking the boys at work.  How BRILLIANT to have GMC friends.

Paul and Richard are at work... to be continued, I think, tomorrow...
