We are about an hour and a half from landing, and are somewhere over northern Canada I suppose. T is watching Shrek (again) and we have both eaten far too much and enjoyed the unusual serenity of our surroundings. Not for us the usual concertina of economy class, because today we got lucky - twice. The first time was when we got upgraded to Economy Plus at check-in, the second time was when we got upgraded again at the gate - to Club Class! T took it in his stride of course but we were both smiling as we were ushered upstairs to the top deck and big, luxurious sleeper seats with movies, menus of real food and s p a c e and quiet. T and I both played with all the buttons and switches and generally lost our cool. The perfect way to end a really smashing ten days with our families back home.
We said our goodbyes to Heather and Jeff at Stansted airport yesterday. It was a great few days with you - thanks so much for looking after us! We took two buses and a cab to Helen's house, where we were the first to arrive. Granny M, Poppa D and Tessie arrived next followed by Clare from the gallery next door and then Helen, Tim and Karen, and then Clare's husband Sam. It was a lovely happy houseful and H&T immediately set about making supper for us all, which in their usual quietly efficient way, they had prepared before they set off for Scotland. It was Helen's perfect meal: ham and mash followed by a delicious apple pudding and a birthday cake from M beautifully decorated with tiny multi-coloured daisies. It was a wonderful meal with lots of banter and big shoulder-shaking laughter around the table.
We set off in good time this morning to miss the traffic, feeling a little bleary it has to be said. All too soon we were being brave at the airport and reminding ourselves that we will be back next month for more weddings!
It will be fantastic to see our PT again and have some time together - it has been a long time away and little T has been a brilliant traveller. Thanks to everyone who looked after us and reminded us again (as if we needed it) just how great our families are, and how much we miss you all.
See you again in a few weeks Listers, Thomases and Sturks xxx
